Relieve Fears and Phobias with Meridian Tapping

Relieve Fears and Phobias with Meridian Tapping Inspired ActionHave you been trying – unsuccessfully – to manage your fears and phobias?

Many of us have fears which can be big or small.  Sometimes, people develop irrational fears or phobias that they cannot control.  People may have a fear of flying, enclosed spaces, crowds, spiders, or speaking in public.  These fears or phobias can limit or even cripple their every day life.

There are many ways to conquer your fears and overcome your phobias.  Traditionally, people are exposed to their phobia or the thing they are afraid of in order to decondition them to the fear.  However, this technique can be uncomfortable and may even prove detrimental when not done the right way.

One technique that is rapidly gaining immense popularity is called EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.  Although there is no scientific explanation for this method, thousands of success stories attest to the effectiveness of EFT.

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT is a type of energy therapy.  It brings healing by balancing the body’s energy system.  EFT works on the same principle as acupuncture, wherein patients are treated by manipulating their energy flow or “chi” using needles in their meridians or acupuncture points.

Your fear, phobia, pain, or disease may be caused by an imbalance or disruption in your chi.  EFT uses tapping techniques to restore balance within the body.  By tapping on the acupuncture or acupressure points, you can eliminate negative emotions like fear, anxiety, stress and phobia very quickly.

Meridian Tapping: What is it?

Meridian Tapping Techniques or MTT involves tapping on the acupressure points of the body.  It uses a variety of techniques, hence the official name is in the plural form.  Tapping therapy is a non-invasive, alternative healing method that you can perform on your own.  The sequential tapping procedure addresses the causes of your physical pain or psychological challenges, balancing the body’s energy and eliminating negative emotions.

You can use two fingers (index and middle) or all four fingers to tap on specific meridian points.  Many Meridian Tapping Techniques also require you to say certain phrases that can help you focus on your problem or ailment so that you can get the most benefit from the therapy.

How Does It Work?

Meridian Tapping is based on the same principles as acupressure and acupuncture.  Practitioners of these ancient, alternative methods of healing believe that negative emotions can disrupt the flow of energy in the body leading to chronic pain, migraines, stress, insomnia, panic attacks, fears and phobias.

By tapping on acupressure points with your finger, you can release negative energy and stimulate the smooth flow of your chi or energy.  MTT offers the same beneficial results as the needles used in acupuncture.

Meridian Tapping Techniques for Fears and Phobias

Meridian tapping as a healing method was discovered by accident by Dr. Roger Callahan, who was treating a patient with a phobia of water.  At the time, the patient was also experiencing stomach pain.  Knowing that there is an acupressure point on the cheekbone for the stomach, Dr. Callahan instructed her to tap her cheekbone in order to relieve her stomach pains.  Amazingly, her phobia of water also disappeared!

Extreme fears and phobias are rooted in an imbalance in your body energy.  EFT using meridian tapping can correct this imbalance or disruption.

Here is an example of the process:

First, identify the fear or phobia that you want to overcome.  Compose a statement acknowledging your fear followed by a positive affirmation of yourself as a person such as “Even though I’m terrified of heights, I deeply and completely accept myself anyway.”  Repeat the statement 3 times while tapping 7-10 times on the Karate Chop point located on the side of the small finger of your hand.

Next, perform a round of tapping on the meridian points beginning with the top or crown of your head and moving on to the eyebrow, side of the eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, underarm, and back to the head.  Tap each point 7 to 10 times while repeating your phobia such as “my fear of heights” or “my fear of public speaking.”

After one or two rounds assess how you feel.  Ideally, your negative emotions will have dissipated or disappeared.  Sometimes you may trigger a secondary issue.  Repeat the therapy until you have completely tamed your fears.

EFT and NLP for a Healthier Body and Mind

EFT and NLP for a Healthier Body and Mind Inspired ActionEmotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) are completely different types of therapies and both are incredibly effective in their own right.  Many people these days have come to realize that together, EFT and NLP provide greater transformational results.

About NLP

NLP, which started in the 1970s, is a powerful tool for personal change that uses subjective experience to shape and create a desired reality.  NLP practitioners use the processes of thought and language to help change negative or unhelpful behavior and improve existing skills.  The therapy provides focus and direction to enhance states of well-being.  Thus, you feel good not by chance, but by choice.

NLP is based on the principle that your reality is the result of how you imagine yourself to be.  If you think of yourself as miserable loser, your life will become miserable.  By providing a brighter self-image, you can improve your self-esteem and become happier and more successful.  NLP works by interrupting unhealthy or unhelpful behavior and thinking, and replacing them with positive thoughts and actions to help you get ahead in life.

Purposeful use of language – usually in a conversational manner – helps anchor positive feelings so you can easily access them and create positive changes in the way you think and act.

About EFT

EFT is a type of energy therapy that involves tapping on acupressure or meridian points in the body while you talk, or think about issues and problems you want to resolve.  EFT has its roots in acupuncture, the ancient Chinese healing method.  Acupuncture is based on the belief that energy flows throughout the body in meridians or “streams.”  Blockages or disruptions in energy flow cause illness or negative feelings.

In EFT, tapping on specific points while talking restores balance and free flow of energy.  This releases negative feelings and physical tensions often within minutes.

EFT and NLP for Healing

Combining EFT and NFT techniques is extremely effective in resolving many issues such as phobias, post traumatic stress disorders, migraines, and overweight problems.  NLP has been used for decades to treat trauma and phobias.  More recently, EFT was added to the arsenal of treatment methods for mental, physical and emotional issues.

EFT harnesses body and mind (tapping combined with purposeful use of language) to release energy blocks and emotions that may be holding you back.  Language is used in a specific way in doing so   practitioners and EFT coaches recommend a “formula” or “pattern” of phrases or sentences to say while you tap.  When done the right way, healing often takes place very quickly.

NLP language patterns can be used with EFT techniques to enhance the healing process.  NLP also helps uncover underlying issues responsible for emotional and mental problems.  It’s a very powerful tool that uses thought and language process to help you recognize and identify the behaviors and beliefs that can lead to healing and success.

While many issues can be resolved using one technique or the other, a growing number of people now believe that using EFT with NLP is more effective and provides quicker results.  Traumas and phobias respond well to both techniques.

EFT is particularly good at separating the negative emotions from the stimulus or memory thereby making it effective for the treatment of fears and phobias.  NLP is also good at identifying specific issues.  The reason why both work well together is because NLP helps the person peel off the layers of issues responsible for the problem, stress, or phobia while EFT helps neutralize and eliminate the unwanted emotional response.

Conclusion

NLP techniques can be used to expedite the EFT session and EFT can be used to enhance NLP techniques.  Using NLP in conjunction with EFT resolves negative issues more quickly and reinforces general health and well-being.

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone Inspired ActionLiving within the confines of routine life results in feelings of being uncertain, frustrated, and low, largely because of the monotony that’s involved. There’s also a big sense of depression owing to the fact that you can’t clearly see any opportunities or possibilities of advancement or betterment of your current state. If such chances do come your way, you’re hesitant to pursue them because you become doubtful that they’ll work to your advantage. Such thoughts make way for several other people that are of no productive consequence. Thoughts that life would have been better off if you were born into a rich family, or if you had attended a better school, do nothing to remedy your situation.

There’s a lack of self-belief and as a consequence when you stop asserting yourself – you give yourself up to fate and begin allowing things to just happen for you. Such a life is spent seeking the approval of peers; there’s no personal initiative to step outside the little circle of thought and venturing to the unexplored. For these reasons, your life becomes full of anxiety, a passive and defensive attitude, doubt, fear, and diminished self-esteem. Clearly, this isn’t a lifestyle you will enjoy.

Break out of your Comfort Zone. Positive thought affirmations are ideal for individuals who wish to step out of their zones of comfort. They work by asserting a faith and optimism in the self. Self-belief is created and this inspires individuals to create changes that they wish to see in their lives. This is strictly through self-control and effort. Naturally, the first step has to be the erasure of your negative inner talk, which has a big effect in shaping the thoughts, which confine you to the small circle that’s your comfort zone.

Stepping out into the Positive

Positive affirmations will start a new thought process that will create new life. You’ll be able to brush off the doubts and fears that confine you to self-inflicted limitations. Positive affirmations will enable you to visualize the outcomes that you want to manifest in your life.

As you create your affirmations ensure that they are positive. Let the affirmations convince you. Let them be brief but emotionally and mentally intense. They must be in the first person because they’re only meant for you. With this said and done, start repeating the affirmations fervently. Using visualization and creating mental images of success will serve you well. The positive affirmations are for the purpose of reprogramming the subconscious. Repeating the affirmations every day is required if the reprogramming is to work. Ensure that you’re calm and collected when you’re doing this. If this proves impossible, invest in a gadget that can repeat the affirmations in your sleep. This has proved to be the most effective technique by far. Realize that affirmations complement your efforts. Half-hearted efforts to get out of your comfort zone will not pay off. The effort has to be wholehearted.

Creating a time frame

There’s a difference between creating in your own universe and creating in the physical world. When you create inside yourself there’s no time involved – your awareness is timeless! For instance, if you would like to change your attitude toward your boss, you do not need to set a time frame. You are able to merely create the intention: “I appreciate my boss,” or, “I value my boss’s viewpoints and beliefs”. It will work instantly if there’s no other belief or intention in its way.
When you deal with the physical world, setting a time frame becomes important. The physical world works within time and space. If you build a new house, first you have a plan, and then you move dirt, assemble wood, install plumbing and move furniture until the house is complete. It takes time and effort.

So if you make your intention but you leave out the time frame – your intention becomes doubtful. For instance: “I’m working in my dream job”. Well, you’d probably say right away: “I am not!” It sounds more like an affirmation than an intention. Include the time frame, and this example turns into: “I’m working in my dream job, six months from now”.

Pay attention to any reactions you have when you formulate your intention. Your mind may interfere and tell you: “No way, I’ll never get this,” or “this is impossible”. If you encounter these instant judgments, formulate your intentions differently, so that they feel more do-able.

Occasionally you may want to break a big intention into smaller pieces. For instance: “In two weeks I am a millionaire”, is an intention that may not work for most Individuals. Nonetheless, an intention like: “each day I will have more money to spend”, may get you there sooner than you think.
