Bridging The Gap between Knowledge and Action | Inspired Action

Chances are, you know what should be done. You know you must stop hesitating. You know you have to watch less TV. You understand that you must set smart objectives and goals and smart deadlines. And ideally, you understand you should track your work, track your outcomes, and put even more of your effort into the areas of your company that give you the best return.

However there’s a huge space in between knowledge and action and you have to find a way to bridge that gap. Think of all the money that’s invested on education: whether it’s a big companies trying to enhance their effectiveness, or stay at home moms or dads trying to get into better shape. They know the changes they have to make, however they constantly fail to set goals, create new habits and follow through.

Bridging the Gap Inspired ActionLet’s look at a few of the gaps that keep you from turning your expertise and knowledge into rewarding and useful practices.

The Fear Of Change

Failure can be comfy. It represents a continuation of a habit that, at least on on some level, has actually brought us a lot of enjoyment. Now where this breaks down is that enjoyment and joy and success are 2 very different things. Enjoyment can be purchased with a cookie, it can be discovered in the bottom of a bottle, you can get a brief rush of it with a couple of minutes on the internet.

Joy and success are harder, and the road that leads to them is longer, winding, and littered with distractions. The consistent pursuit of enjoyment, paradoxically, keeps more even more people away from becoming successful.

You Won’t Find out By Doing

There are a lot of individuals who tried to do by learning instead of learning by doing. Talking issues to death hardly ever solves them. People tend to discuss too much. It’s natural to want to go into a scary situation with knowledge behind you. Once you’ve learned the essentials of a skill, start acting upon it. Then look for new information once you have actually encountered a significant roadblock, or find you actually need to expand your current skills.

You Rely On Inspiration Instead of Routine

It’s all right to “feel unmotivated” sometimes, to hit a roadblock and require something positive to dig you out of your hole. However if you’re constantly needing t be motivated for any type of forward action in your life, it’s an indication that you haven’t actually put the energy you must into setting new habits.

Habits aren’t subjects that need inspiration. Routines are things that we just do, whether it’s a good time or a bad time. If you can devote one month to establishing a positive habit, chances are you will be able to keep them up for a long time to come

Accepting “Life Excuses”

A lot of individuals take “life happens” as a reason not to do the things that they should. It’s almost like there’s no effort to leap over the obstacles that life puts in front of them. It is necessary to set up undisturbed times and regular places for your most critical priorities and these cannot be violated. When you give yourself an option between any 2 things, there’s a chance you will take the less beneficial (although sometimes more fun) choice.

Establish an everyday routine that removes those choices.

Going From Zero To A Hundred

When it sinks in how far behind we are on our goals, it’s easy to attempt to do too much too soon and destroy our desire to improve entirely. While there are people who can handle a radical shift, for most people it’ll be best to start small, concentrate on recurring action, and scale up from there!

No More Excuses

The time for learning and not doing it over. Step up and start making a significant change in the way you approach issues … right now!
