Acupuncture and Meridian Tapping: Are They Related?

Acupuncture and Meridian Tapping Inspired ActionThe Meridian Tapping Technique used in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) has often been compared to acupuncture and for a very good reason.  Both healing methods rely on manipulating the body’s acupuncture meridians to allow the free flow of energy.  Pain, ailments and psychological disorders are believed to be caused by a disruption or blockage of the body’s energy flow.  Alternative methods like acupuncture and EFT restore balance and uninterrupted flow of energy for optimal health.

How Are They Similar?

The ancient Chinese healing method known as acupuncture has been around for thousands of years.  Acupuncture practitioners believe that there are energy meridians within the body.  These meridians are similar to streams through which energy flows throughout the body.  There are certain points along the meridians where energy accumulates called acupuncture points.  These points can be moved with the use of needles, pressure or tapping to unblock or reallocate energy.

Meridian tapping is actually based on the principles of acupuncture.  This healing method is used in EFT therapy to help clear energy blockages and disruptions along the acupuncture meridians.

EFT allows the body and mind to work together to alleviate negative feelings and emotions.  This is done by gently tapping on the acupuncture points while focusing on the ailment, physical discomfort, or psychological problem you are experiencing.  Tapping releases pent up negative energy in much the same way as needles do in acupuncture.

How Are They Different?

Although they operate on the same underlying principle, there is a marked difference between acupuncture and tapping.  Acupuncture uses needles to manipulate the meridians while tapping makes use of the fingertips to apply pressure.  Thus, acupuncture is invasive while tapping is non-invasive.

The effects of acupuncture may be more pronounced since the needles can penetrate deeper into the meridian points.  Gentle tapping used in EFT does not go to the same level.  However, some people may consider this a good thing.  For people who do not wish to undergo acupuncture, EFT provides a good alternative.

How Tapping Works

Tapping in EFT works by accessing the meridian system used in Chinese medicine.  Practitioners of Chinese medicine strive to bring balance back to the body’s energy, since it is assumed that the body can heal itself and function at optimum levels  when the “chi” or body energy is in balance.  Balance and free flow of energy can be achieved by manipulating specific acupuncture or acupressure points.  Tapping these points relieves trauma and reestablishes balance.

Tapping is not performed on just any location on the body.  There are specific points along the acupressure or acupuncture meridians that serve as tapping points for EFT.  The tapping points for EFT starts with the Karate Chop point which is located along the side of the hand, between the top of the wrist and the base of the little finger.  Other EFT tapping points include the top of the head, beginning of the eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, and underarm.

The EFT tapping sequence goes through all the meridians.  The reason for this is so that the affected meridian, whichever it may be, is bound to be balanced.

Tapping vs. Acupuncture

Both tapping and acupuncture are alternative methods of healing which have been shown to be highly effective even in ailments where traditional medicine has failed.  Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years while tapping as a treatment method only started in the 1980s and 1990s.  Tapping may be relatively new but it is rapidly gaining popularity because it is easy to learn and apply on one’s self.  Some people may also dislike the idea of poking needles into their skin.

Tapping is a simple, non-invasive procedure that can offer many of the benefits of acupuncture.  Practitioners of EFT and other energy therapies are convinced that in the near future more and more people will employ tapping techniques to cure illnesses, physical pain, and emotional disorders.

7 EFT Tapping Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

7 EFT Tapping Mistakes and How to Avoid Them EFT tapping is simple and easy to learn, but did you know that it’s still possible to make mistakes?  Here are some of the common mistakes people make when tapping:

  1. Not Tapping Often Enough

Tapping should be done on a daily basis.  Experts recommend at least 5 minutes of tapping three or more times each day.  At the very least, do some tapping in the morning before getting out of bed, and again at night before falling asleep.  A few issues can be cleared up with a minute of tapping, but the majority will require more time and attention.  More frequent tapping can also clear bigger problems more quickly.

  1. Not Tapping Long Enough

Many people stop too soon during a tapping session.  Too often, beginners tap for few rounds and give up when they feel they’re not getting the results they were hoping for.  Tapping should take 10-30 minutes, or even longer.  Devoting enough time to tapping will make a lot of difference.

Some people will also stop when they begin to feel better.  Don’t settle for a bit of relief; keep on tapping until the energy starts flowing and you feel really good.

  1. Not Being Specific Enough

Global or general statements can help get you started in the right direction while tapping, but after that you have to be more specific.  You can setup with a statement like “Even though I feel anxious right now, I deeply and completely accept myself.”  After doing a couple of rounds of the general statement, you can go down to specifics such as “Even though I feel anxious about my upcoming job interview, I deeply and completely accept myself.”  You’ll get better results when you’re focused on a specific issue.

  1. Wanting To Do The Tapping Perfectly Right Away

Some people want to be “perfect” and may put off tapping until they feel they are able to do it correctly.  As a result they only try the technique a few times, or not at all.

Getting started on tapping is more important than being perfect.  You can still get good results even if you think your technique is less than perfect.  Start with the basic tapping points and be sure to tap daily to develop your EFT skills.

  1. Not Tuning Into The Feelings

Don’t forget that tapping clears emotional energy from your body.  Hence, it’s important to tune into your feelings and not merely “think” about them.  If your psychological difficulties these days are the result of embarrassing childhood memories, try to recall how you felt at the time.  Old feelings of shame, hurt and anger will sometimes resurface when you tap.  Try to resurrect these feelings and you will get more out of your tapping sessions.

  1. Expecting All Results From Tapping To Be Permanent

You can’t expect 100% positive results all the time, and this is true not only for EFT but for all healing methods as well.  Don’t get frustrated or discouraged if an issue or part of it comes back.  Some people do get permanent results but in many cases you may have to do more tapping to get rid of the issue completely.

If you have a problem that keeps coming back, this could mean that other aspects or a root cause needs to be uncovered and addressed first.

  1. Sticking To EFT Basics Only

In order to master EFT and reap its full benefits, you have to invest time and effort to gain skill and develop your intuition.  It’s not enough to “go through the motions”.  Harness your intuition and use it to seek out the most effective tapping techniques and peel away the emotions and root causes of your problems.

EFT Success Stories

EFT Success Stories Inspired ActionAlternative healing methods are often met with skepticism and Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT is no exception.  Some people find it hard to believe that such an easy and simple technique can help them overcome their fears, manage psychological disorders, and restore the body’s energy.  EFT has its roots in acupuncture, the ancient Chinese method of healing based on re-balancing and stimulating the flow of energy within the body.  It also employs modern psychological reprogramming techniques.  This potent combination of modern and traditional therapies releases mental and emotional blocks that prevent you from enjoying a healthy and abundant life.

Thousands of people have benefited from tapping and EFT and many of them share their success stories.  As you read their testimonials, keep in mind that abundance is not necessarily measured by the size of your bank account.  For many people, a healthy body full of energy and free from mental and emotional burdens is the true measure of wealth.

Anna’s Story

Anna Campbell is a combat veteran who suffered from post traumatic stress disorder.  Initially, she underwent traditional therapies which included psychiatric counseling and chemical/drug medications.  Although these methods helped, they did not give her the peace of mind she was looking for.

Eventually, Anna learned about EFT tapping therapy for PTSD and other psychological issues.  After a few sessions, she noticed a significant improvement in her condition.  Anna went on to take a course in EFT to help her manage her disorder.

These days, Anna shares that she is getting her life back.  Every time she feels an anxiety attack coming, she starts tapping.  She also taps when she has nightmares during the night.

Anna says she has found peace and harmony in her life and EFT has exceeded her expectations.

Manuel’s Story

Like many of us, Manuel suffered from chronic social anxiety including fear of public speaking.  His fear and self consciousness stemmed from being ridiculed by his parents, siblings and peers at school when he was a child.  His fear was so great that he could not concentrate.

Upon discovering EFT, Manuel started tapping to get rid of his bad feelings and insecurities.  He would pretend he was standing up in front of the people who used to ridicule him and he would tell them in a strong and powerful voice about how they made him feel in the past.  Manuel did this while tapping on his meridian points.

As a result of EFT, he was able to shake off all his anxieties and fears.  Today, Manuel is confident and at peace with his life.  Other approaches that he had tried previously cost him a lot of money but without success.  EFT worked for him like no other.

Karl’s Story

Now an EFT Master, Karl reveals that he used to suffer from poor physical health.  Some of his health issues included depression, pre-diabetes, allergies, poor eyesight, and chronic lower back pain.  Upon discovering EFT, Karl used tapping techniques to find and eliminate the emotional issues responsible for his poor health. Thanks to EFT, his health has never been better.

Gayle’s Story

Having suffered from anxiety attacks and seizures for years, Gayle was looking forward to the EFT seminar conducted by Gary Craig that she would be attending with her mother-in-law.  Before the seminar even started, she began feeling anxious and nervous.  Her anxiety increased as the seminar got under way.  All the while, her mother-in-law kept an eye and her and made sure she was okay.

During the break, Gayle felt an anxiety attack coming on. Her mother-in-law quickly called on one of the EFT experts, who immediately started EFT tapping.  As the tapping started, Gayle felt her emotions being released and she dissolved in tears.  After a few rounds of tapping, her seizure feeling subsided and eventually totally disappeared.

During the rest of the 3-day seminar, the seizure feeling and anxiety never came back.  Gayle realized that being anxiety-free is an option she can take and EFT can help with her decision.

EFT for Natural and Permanent Weight Loss

Like many other people trying to lose weight, you may have tried all sorts of weight loss programs but without significant or permanent results.  Now you can embark on a revolutionary method to lose weight naturally.  It’s called EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques tapping.  Strange as it may sound, this method is not only effective in the short term but it can also help you maintain your ideal weight for life.

EFT involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body to release energy or emotional blockages that are preventing you from losing extra weight and keeping it off.  It’s only when these blockages are eliminated that your conscious and unconscious mind will be ready to work together to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

Why Most Diets Do Not Succeed

EFT-for-Natural-and-Permanent-Weight-Loss-Inspired-Action.jpgMore than two out of three adults in America are overweight and many of these people will tell you that diets seldom work.  The theory behind dieting is very simple: consume fewer calories than you burn per day.  Traditional diets restrict the quantity and/or the types of food you can eat.  Although dieting may seem simple, many diets do not address the causes of overweight problems.  Because of this, diets often fail to provide permanent weight loss.

In general, people with overweight problems eat to satisfy their emotional needs.  Some people turn to food when they are stressed, bored or lonely.  Others eat to give themselves a treat.

Most diets treat the symptoms (eating too much) and not the cause (emotional needs).  In order for a weight loss program to succeed, it must teach lifestyle changes needed for long-term success.  It must also treat the weight problem holistically, addressing the emotional, mental and spiritual needs of the person. This is exactly how EFT can help with natural and permanent weight loss.

EFT As An Alternative To Diet

Emotional Freedom Techniques can be combined with a natural weight loss program to achieve and maintain a healthy weight with ease.  This combination addresses a person’s needs at all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

EFT tapping gets rid of negative emotions blocking your road to success.  These negative emotions can come in the form of stress, frustration, anger, and fear.  By tapping on specific points in the body, you’ll get quick relief from your negative feelings.  It becomes possible for you to eat for physical sustenance, not to appease your emotions and mind.  EFT offers a holistic solution to your weight problems.

How EFT Can Help With Weight Loss

EFT offers a holistic treatment for weight loss by treating the whole self.  People often overeat because they feel empty emotionally or spiritually. Tapping deals with the negative emotions and helps with emotional, spiritual and physical healing.  This lays the groundwork for natural weight loss.

By healing the mind, spirit and emotions, EFT helps eliminate food cravings.  Tapping opens up the conscious and unconscious mind and allows them to work together not against each other.  Traditional diets require a lot of willpower with the conscious mind working hard to overcome the impulses from the unconscious mind.  In contrast, EFT makes it possible for the conscious and unconscious mind to work together, not only for weight loss but also to reach other goals.

Statistics show that the vast majority of people who follow a traditional weight management program fail to maintain their ideal weight in the long term.  Frustration and disappointment set in which often leads to weight gain.

EFT offers a holistic weight loss formula that can help you shed extra pounds painlessly.  You’ll find it easier to eat a healthy and sensible diet.  With EFT, natural weight loss is nothing short of miraculous.
