Tips on How To Overcome Self Doubt

Inspired Action | Overcoming Self DoubtIf you are a person who suffers from self-doubt, then you probably feel like you’re the only one who doesn’t have confidence in your abilities. Actually, you may feel that everyone views you in the same way you view yourself. Self-doubt is an issue that many people deal with in their lifetime, but it is one that can be conquered. All you need is a little determination, persistence and patience.

Below are some simple steps for overcoming self doubt.

1 – Verbally Compliment Yourself – You may feel a little silly doing this at first, but it is a critical thing to do when working on overcoming self doubt. In the morning, when you go to the bathroom, look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a compliment. It may just be something simple like, “I look good today.” It doesn’t really matter what it is, the point is that you compliment yourself. You are your toughest critic, so if your toughest critic can give you a compliment every day, everyone else should be easy, right?

2 – Address the Problem – In order to overcome your struggle with self-doubt, you have to acknowledge it’s there first. So, sit down and think for a minute. What exactly is it about yourself that you doubt? Are there specific instances when you doubt yourself more than others? If so, what are those instances? Write them down. This process will help you specifically identify what it is that you fear the most. It may be that you aren’t confident in your speaking abilities or you doubt your professional abilities. Once you know what the problem area is, you can begin to work on it.

3 – Find the Good – Now that you’ve determined what it is you doubt about yourself, write down every good quality you have. It doesn’t matter if you are a good cook, have great typing skills, are punctual or are great with other people. Whatever good qualities you have, write them down. And, write them down in “I” statements. For instance, “I am a great journalist.” Use this list of “I” statements to read in the morning when you give yourself a compliment. This step is key in overcoming self doubt as it will give you a list of things that you feel good about.

4 – Keep a Daily Journal – A great way to build your confidence and and work on overcoming self doubt is to begin keeping a daily journal. Throughout the day, write down everything good that you do. Basically, you want to write down all of your accomplishments over the course of each day. Then, at night right before bed, take the list out and read over it. End the day by reading good things about yourself and you’ll be more likely to wake up thinking good things about yourself.

5 – Talk to Friends – Everyone has at least one friend, so I don’t want to hear that you don’t have any friends to talk to. When you’re suffering from self-doubt, you need a support group to help you talk your way out of the self-doubt pit and back up to your mainland of confidence. This is what good friends are for. Use them!

6 – Celebrate – Don’t place minimal importance on your achievements. Celebrate them! You need to celebrate the specific times when you overcome your self-doubt and achieve something you didn’t think was possible. These celebrations will give you more motivation to keep on going!

Self doubt is a real problem that affects many people. However, you can defeat it. The six steps listed above may seem simple. That’s because they are! Start implementing them in your daily life and you’ll be amazed at the difference they will make and you will also be amazed at the progress you make with overcoming self doubt.

Leave Room for Wisdom | Inspirational Quotes and Sayings

I’ve decided to get myself a little bit more organized.  So, I was searching around on the internet for a daily “to-do” list form – something that could help me focus in a little better on what I need to get done each day.  I found this great sheet that has all kinds of little places to write things… including getting stuff done and even a place to track how much water I drink (love this feature!).  I really think this sheet will help me stay on track!  What I really love about it, though, is there is this place for you to write your daily inspiration, motivation or encouragement… and for me it is a no brainer to use this as a place to write down inspirational quotes and sayings!

Here’s the quote I wrote down for today:

“There is little room left for wisdom when one is filled with judgment.”  ~ Malcolm Hein

Inspirational Quotes and Sayings There is little room left for wisdom

In some ways this quote seems a little hard-edged… at least to me.  I mean, a person reading this might think I was judging them for being judgmental!  But that isn’t why I picked this quote.  I mean, really… we’re human, after all.  That is kind of a function of our ego.  I think we should continuously work towards putting aside that function, but the reality is, we aren’t going to escape it – not entirely.  And sometimes, we really need to rely on our ability to make judgments.  We may prefer to call that discernment, but it is only through our ability to make judgments that we can discern what we want to let into our lives and what we draw boundaries against.  That’s healthy.

So, what was I thinking then.  How is this an inspirational quote?  Well, I wrote it on my to-do list because I want to remember to mind my own business each day.  I strive to not sit in a place of judgment of my fellow human beings.  Each person has their own struggles, and I know, in my heart of hearts, that each person truly is doing the best they can.  Whether I agree with what they are doing, or whether I could get behind what they are doing, or whether I think it is wrong or right… It really isn’t my business.    I think I can accomplish more towards my own goals and my own vision and dreams (and gain more wisdom) if I stay focused on myself.  And if I have compassion and strive to love others, I can live a happier and more joy-filled life.

But there is another reason I chose this quote to add to my inspirational quotes and sayings list… because I want to remind myself to not be so harsh on myself… to quit being so judgmental of myself.  I’m not perfect.  And I can’t be. I can only do what I can do each day.  I can only set my goals and do what I can each day to move closer to completing them.  And I just have to be gentle with myself.  When I judge myself, I not only don’t leave room for wisdom, I don’t leave room for me.

So, I hope you will take this for what it is… my pick to post for today in the Inspirational Quotes and Sayings category.  Just a gentle reminder to not be so harsh on ourselves, or on others…  to leave room for wisdom… and leave room to just be.

Blessings!

Inspired Action | Reclaim Your Power!

Whenever we are feeling anxious or have discomfort around money or any other situation, it is generally a sign that we have left some of our power somewhere, or are giving our power away in the moment.  We are infinite beings and we are meant to have access to all of our power.  As humans, we have decided to play the game of “what if” – what if we were separate from God?

Reclaim your power nowWe know, in our heart of hearts that we are not separate, and part of the game for many of us, this time around, is realizing that, consciously, from our human-ness!  And then, once we realize it, the game becomes finding all of the places, across all of our past where we have left our power, where we have let that pretend notion of separateness steal away power!

The game becomes a sort of treasure hunt then… we go looking for the treasure of our own power that we have hidden from ourselves, and then we reclaim it, and bring it into our being in the present time.

The following is a great tool to reclaim your power – to use any time you feel discomfort about ANY situation. It is from Robert Sheinfeld’s book, Busting Loose from the Money Game.

When you feel the discomfort coming on, dive into the feeling, make it bigger until you can really feel it.  Then, go through each of the below steps/statements, and really feel the truth of each one.

I am the Power and Presence of God creating this.

It’s not real.

It’s completely made up.

It’s a creation of my consciousness.

I reclaim my power from this creation NOW. As I reclaim the power, I feel it coming back to me. I feel it surging through me.

As I feel the surge, I feel myself expanding more and more into who I really am, expressing more and more of who I really and in my Human Experience.

I am the Power and Presence of God. I AM in Infinite Abundance, right here, right now.

Keep repeating these steps, really feeling each one, until all of the original discomfort is dissolved and you can feel the truth of what a powerful being you really are!  If you do this each and every time some discomfort comes up into your consciousness, you will probably start noticing that you are becoming more prosperous and that you have a lot more personal power at your fingertips!

For the record – this is one of the BEST books I’ve ever read about what we are doing here now… and I recommend it to EVERYONE!  It isn’t just about money… you can get it by clicking on the link below, or get it at your local bookshop… Just get it.  That’s all I can say!  Blessings!  Donna

Inspired Action | How Secure is your Firewall?

I have a friend who is having some issues.  I know, we all have friends with issues as well as our own issues, nothing new there. This one is special though. Not only is she a special person but our recent discovery is by far the coolest thing I’ve been a part of in all my years of practice.  Among her list of trials, experiences and challenges in her life is one of health and weight.  Now before I go any further let me say that ‘weight’ is the word we use here but my belief is that what is going on in just about anybody’s head is far beyond just body weight.  That though, is a different story.

How Secure is Your Firewall?
How Secure is Your Firewall?

I have worked on her, energetically, several times. Counseled with her (giving as well as receiving) and met as friends to have or give a shoulder.  I know who she is and what she believes, how diligently she works on herself and how she presents herself.  So for me to be witness to this particular epiphany was mind-boggling, enlightening and just plain exciting!

She came in for an appointment this week and we covered both old ground and new ground.  Old ground being  her weight and health.  She has worked (literally) for years to heal herself.  Removing triggers, self-sabotage, traumas and a general feeling of not being valuable in the world.  More recently she has focused on removing behaviors as well as emotional triggers which she believes contributes to her inability to be healthy and at a desirable weight (for her).  Confused?  Yes she is.  Lots of work and in her eyes, no results.

As I am working on her to energetically clear her lymph system she is allowing herself to express random thoughts.  Guess what came out.   “People who get cancer loose weight”.  BINGO!  DING-DING! BULLSEYE!  There it is…her FIREWALL.  That is a fail-safe belief if I’ve ever heard one.  The Trojan horse couldn’t get past that gate.

The point here is, it doesn’t matter how much work we do on ourselves or how much we clear away.  If you have built in a firewall a fail-safe to protect a belief,  you will not get to your goal.  And get this, we all have them!  Let’s understand that the reason we build this firewall is to protect ourselves, it works for us, it serves us, for a time.  Then there comes a time when it no longer serves us but hurts us, stops us from getting to our goal, stops us from healing and being all we were meant to be.   Until we uncover what we have written on our firewall it isn’t going to work.  It never hurts to clear away old stuff, that’s how we get to the real issue.   Clearing will eventually lead you to your fail-safe belief, but you have to keep going until you get there, painful as it might be.

Do you have an issue or situation that you just can’t get ahold of?  Can’t seem to get to your goal?  How does or did that belief serve you?  This is the first question to ask, ‘How did this belief serve me’.  Then what firewall, fail-safe belief did you put in place to protect your original belief?  Whew! Complicated right?

We all have them and yes they serve us, but not in this time of shift, of enlightenment.  Not in this time of raising our vibrations.  Time to bring down that obsolete firewall and install a new higher vibration, kick-ass belief that supports the beautiful light being that you are.  Reboot!
