How to Tap Into the Woo-Woo Market | Business Inspiration

By Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero

I tend to attract bright, successful people with strong values and a social consciousness to my business (yes, if you’re reading this, you can consider yourself complimented). But more than that, they tend to be expansive, even spiritual. The typical “woo woo” folks who actually make money.

They are called the “Cultural Creatives” and they represent approximately 50 million Americans. Cultural Creatives fall into the “LOHAS” (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) market – a $228.9 billion growing industry.

Basically Cultural Creatives are the “green” group. They are interested in alternative medicines, personal development, environmentally friendly solutions, and healthy lifestyles. They eat organic foods and drink filtered water. They drive hybrid cars and bike or walk when possible. They want to leave a better world for the next generation, even if the next generation is wrapped up in MySpace.com and video games. They don’t relate to the fast-paced.

While getting to know some of them over the past years at live events and through teleseminars (the Internet marketer’s version of a coffee klatch), I discovered this group represents some new challenges in marketing that haven’t been there before. See, they loathe advertising.

What’s a marketer to do when her bag of tricks doesn’t work on the segment of people who most relates to her? She looks closer at lessons from the past and what DOES work in the present. Here are a few tips you can use to connect with the elusive Cultural Creatives.

  1. Hook ‘em with a story. We all love stories and they make for some pretty compelling marketing. When a reader is taking in a story he actually looks for connections to himself. How cool is that? The reader is grooming a relationship with you without you even trying.
  2. Be authentic. A Cultural Creative can smell a liar. Try the old bait and switch and you will shortly be out of business. Let them in on your weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
  3. Use a conversational tone. Try speaking to them in the first person using language real people use. Don’t be so formal. Cultural Creatives aren’t uptight – just curious. Extra points for making them chuckle.
  4. Long copy still works…as long as you are succinct and interesting. Cultural Creatives don’t mind getting information, as long as they are LEARNING something about a potential purchase or issue. Not impulsive buyers, they like to understand before they buy.

Get used to it. The Cultural Creatives are not some hippie group fad. They are here to stay. The sooner you adapt your marketing to reach them, the better.

Getting in the Mood To Write Good Copy | Creative Inspiration

By Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero

“Anything the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”~ Napoleon Hill~  “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson~ “Whatever you feed your mind comes to fruition in your life.” ~ Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero ~   If you are in a bad frame of mind, I promise you, your copy will not work. You’re defeated before you get out of the gate, and that is a bad way to start. It’s much better to consciously put yourself in the right frame of mind BEFORE writing copy… or before doing anything really. There are many ways to align your mind before writing. Here are a few that work for me.Write-Good-Copy-Creative-Inspiration

  • Take Care of Yourself First – It’s so easy to let clients, colleagues, friends and family dictate how you will prioritize your day. Just like they tell you when traveling with a small child on an airplane… Put on YOUR oxygen mask first, then your child’s. You can’t be of any use to others if you aren’t breathing (or functioning) well first. Don’t put off what feeds you. It affects everyone around you.
  • Attitude of Gratitude – It is impossible to feel truly grateful for what you have and constricted in the same moment. Each evening I like to think of 10 things I’m grateful for that day. Make this a habit and it will color your world each and every day.
  • Affirmations -Basically an affirmation is a positive statement you say to your subconscious to visualize the outcome you want for your future. I write them on post it notes stuck around my office and on my bathroom mirror. Say your affirmation as if you already have it using the present tense. I’m no expert with affirmations – I just know what works for me.

Example, “I have fun effortlessly writing powerful copy that sells in record time.”

  • Visualization, “Theatre of Your Mind” Style – This technique comes from Dr. Maxwell Maltz of Psycho-Cybernetics. Imagine yourself in an actual theatre complete with popcorn and drink holder. But this theatre is better than a real one because on the screen you can play anything you like. But for copywriting, I like to imagine the success of completing the project, the sales it brings in, the happy clients, etc. I bring the emotion of it to life. I also use my theatre to visualize what I want in my life. It’s powerful for me because it is in a controllable container rather than as random pictures floating around in my mind. Have fun creating your own blockbuster!
  • Write Out Your Success History – Take 15 minutes and write out 30 successes you have had over your lifetime – no matter how big or small. Tap dance in a recital at 3? Put it in. Launched your blog? Put it in. Add everything you can think of, whether personal or business. Then post it where you will see it often. I did this with my Elite Platinum group and they loved it. One of my two business coaches, Matt Furey, put it this way: Intensely Desired Goals + Imagination + Action = Success (If you’re serious about success YOU should also have a coach or mentor in your life. That’s what keeps you sharp and edgy.)
  • Top 20 Lifetime Goals – What do you have planned for the rest of your life? Write down your goals and look at them regularly. It gives them more power when they are written down. If you are too embarrassed to write it, you’re probably too embarrassed to LIVE it. So open your imagination and let ‘er rip!
  • Visioning Board – Create a collage on a large poster board of the things you want in your life now and in the future. Cut out pictures from magazines or newspapers. Print out pictures websites. Draw. Be as creative as you like. You may be surprised at how fast you get them when you face them each day. My Elite Platinum group and I created our own visioning boards this past weekend at our Elite Retreat then explained them to the group. It’s beautiful to watch other people’s thoughts and desires unfold into something physical. I was surprised how important owning a horse was to many of the group – including me. Hmmm…
  • Calm Body, Calm Mind – This is also a technique from Psycho-Cybernetics. You can’t create if you are uptight. You need to be in a relaxed state to perform at your best whether it’s writing copy, exercising, or driving in traffic. Imagine your body is a balloon and slowly release the air (tension). Let your body melt into your chair (or bed if lying down). Tell yourself you have a “calm body, calm mind”. Before you know it, you will. This works immediately under all stressful situations.

How to Stop Procrastination – An Easy Three-Step Process For Overcoming Procrastination Fast

So you’ve been procrastinating again. And chances are you’re beating yourself up about it. Stop that right now. Overcoming procrastination can be a challenge, but if you read this article and act on it, you’ll discover a secret that will make it much easier to stop procrastinating and take action.

Business Inspiration | Stop ProcrastinatingThink about it. When you think about your to do list, how do you feel? Does it make you feel overwhelmed? Chances are that it has simply far too many things on it.

I’ve been there. In fact, I often have the same problem. But my economic survival depends on getting over it, so I’ve found a few things that help. And there’s one thing in particular.

1) Get rid of your huge to-do list

You know what I’m talking about: Your huge to-do list that has far more things on it than you could ever complete in a week. And you feel overwhelmed. No wonder you’re procrastinating. That’s your body telling you that you’ve cut off more than you can chew.

So what do you do? Get rid of it.

Well, not entirely, but take a few minutes and sit down and go over it. Then pick out a couple of items that really have to get done. Then pick one of those that you can do easily if only you take the time to do it. Start a NEW to-do list and put that item on it.

Add item two and three as well and then put the other list aside. Finally, start another new list and only add item number one.

2) Focus on item number one

So now you have just one item on your to-do list, you can focus on just one task at a time. Sure, people are singing the praises of multi-tasking, but research as well as experience have shown that it just doesn’t work. So put all the other stuff aside, even item two and three, and just focus on item number one.

3) Divide and conquer

If that first item is too big, break it down into steps, and line them up underneath item one. Then tackle step one and cross it off once it’s done. Next, do step two. And so on. The divide and conquer approach makes overcoming procrastination a breeze.

In fact, before you know it, you’ll have completed item number one. Give yourself a pat on the back, a break, and maybe a cup of coffee or another reward. Then go on to item number two and repeat the above process.
