Wow. I don’t read a lot of books on spirituality and healing these days… you know? I mostly just do my best to live in spirit and rely on my Angels and Spirit Guides, my Earth Angel and Guide friends (you know who you are!) and my memories of past lives where I was incarnate as some form of powerful healer and/or spiritual leader. However, recently, as I have been confronting a physical illness in this human body of mine, one of my Earth Guide friends suggested I read Colin Tipping’s book, Radical Forgiveness.
Now, the truth is, the concepts that this book embody are not new to me, and I do a lot of my own healing work using forgiveness. I believe I have a deep understanding that we are one, that we create our lives, and that everyone and everything in our lives are here because we have drawn them here. I do know all of that. AND, I’m human. AND, I forget from time to time. AND, even though I coach others on doing this kind of forgiveness work, I still need a little help and some reminders on my own journey.
Anyway, my friend suggested (strongly, you might say), that I read this book.
He said that even though these are concepts that we have an understanding of, there is something about the way this book is written that brings a fresh outlook and helps to get it, even deeper. And that reading it, in and of itself, can be a healing experience. And I figured, what have I got to lose?
I’m reading this book now. And, truthfully, I haven’t gotten very far into it. I only just started on the second chapter and BOOM. My reading came to a screeching halt. There it is. A single sentence that answers a question I’ve been asking my whole life! This is the first time I’ve ever seen a succinct and significantly accurate explanation of why we would ever choose to come here, to live in this separateness, in this human state of duality!
In order to exponentially expand our awareness of oneness, we agreed to come to this world of duality in order to experience the exact opposite of oneness – separation. -Colin Tipping
There it is. Yes. Now it actually makes sense! Not to say that I didn’t have a basic understanding of this concept, or that I haven’t spent countless hours pondering this human condition, this human life, in order to come to peace with living it. I have. And I know we are all one, we are all God and God is us, and I know that we came here to experience the idea of separation from God… and I get that it is a game, and I kind of understand the reasons for the game, and maybe I kind of understand why we might choose to play… but, in the end, I just never have been able to grab onto the fullness of the answer to the question WHY? Why would we EVER choose to do this? This separation thing can be awfully painful, after all!
And NOW, I get it. Thank you Colin Tipping, and thank you to the friend that insisted I read this book. You were right, my friend… there IS something about the way he words things that makes a difference and brings a deeper understanding.
I’m going to continue reading, because I know that I will get a lot out of this book, and I’m sure I will get tons of healing. But, I have to say that what I am getting from this ONE single sentence is so far beyond what I ever expected to get out of picking up one more book on spirituality and healing. I’m STILL pondering and meditating the depth of the truth in that sentence.
I’m going to invite you, too, to read and re-read that sentence a few times. Yes, it might be like a great big groan of, “duh” – or maybe it is a subtle whisper of, “I’ve always known that” – but, either way… it is a truth that is inside of us… and for me, at least, this is the first time it has been put into words in such a way that my conscious brain REALLY and TRULY gets it, now. Finally… I have the answer to that nagging question of WHY? And with that answer, there comes a little bit more of the peace I’ve been seeking.
And that is worth everything.
Blessings on our continued journey together! Donna
